Governance

Exeter Coast & Country Circuit’s governing body is the Circuit Meeting, which comprises the ordained ministers of the Circuit, the Circuit Stewards and representatives of each of the churches. Together, these people form the trustees. The Circuit Meeting meets several times a year to review the life of the Circuit and decide matters of policy.

Between meetings of the Circuit Meeting, Circuit business is carried forward by the Circuit Leadership Team (CLT) which comprises Ministers and Circuit Stewards. We aim to have one Circuit Steward corresponding to each minister and that minister’s group of churches, so that both ministers and stewards are representative of the Circuit as a whole and there is a balance between ordained and lay people on the CLT. In addition there is one steward with particular responsibility for finance. The Circuit Meeting has several sub-groups whose terms of reference may be found here: Mission & Ministry Group, Finance Group, Property GroupManses Committee, World Church Committee.

Preaching Plan

A key document for each Methodist Circuit is the Preaching Plan which shows who is leading worship at each church for each Sunday over a three-month period.
